The Stroad Simulator

Design a four-mile road between two cities. Add lanes, set the speed limit, choose what’s built alongside — and watch cost, traffic volume, crashes, and travel time respond in real time. Every number is grounded in peer-reviewed research.

What you’re looking at

The most important ideas in street design are simple but counterintuitive: wider lanes make roads more dangerous, adding lanes attracts more traffic instead of relieving it. Told these things, most people nod politely and forget them. The simulator lets you discover them instead — which is why it works as both a Grade 3–12 classroom tool and a training aid for urbanist advocates.
